چکیده
Abstract Event-based rainfall-runoff models are practical tools commonly used to predict catchments’ response a rainfall event. However, one of the main concerns is that characteristics rain events neglected in model development. This paper develops novel event-based equation incorporate into account. The performance new evaluated based on root mean square error, Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient, and per cent bias for 13,339 between 2005 2020 over 23 catchments across New Zealand Australia with oceanic, mediterranean, tropical, subtropical, semiarid climates. Compared previous models, shows an improvement runoff estimation almost all case studies. Furthermore, considering simple, efficient, takes event duration account, has potential become robust alternative method conventional curve number hydrological engineering projects.

متن کاملRainfall Runoff Modelling Based on Genetic Programming
The runoff formation process is believed to be highly non-linear, time varying, spatially distributed, and not easily described by simple models. Considerable time and effort has been directed to model this process, and many hydrologic models have been built specifically for this purpose. All of them, however, require significant amounts of data for their respective calibration and validation. ...
متن کاملA New Rainfall Runoff Software Library
Lumped-conceptual rainfall-runoff models are a ‘stock in trade’ tool for those working in the water industry and allied fields. However, there are many alternative models available, and sometimes multiple implementations of the same model. The consequence of this is a plethora of models with different operational features and different access arrangements. Similarly, there are a variety of opti...
متن کاملSource-pathway separation of multiple contaminants during a rainfall-runoff event in an artificially drained agricultural watershed.
A watershed's water quality is influenced by contaminant-transport pathways unique to each landscape. Accurate information on contaminant-pathways could provide a basis for mitigation through well-targeted approaches. This study determined dynamics of nitrate-N, total P, Escherichia coli, and sediment during a runoff event in Tipton Creek, Iowa. The watershed, under crop and livestock productio...
متن کاملThe Influence of an SST Front on a Heavy Rainfall Event over Coastal Taiwan during TiMREX
A long-lived heavy precipitation area was observed along the southwest coast of Taiwan from 13 to 18 June 2008 during the Terrain-Influenced Monsoon Rainfall Experiment (TiMREX). Rainfall amounts exceeded 500mm along portions of the coast, and the coastal plains experienced severe flooding. The precipitation systems were influenced by blocking effects, as the southerly moist monsoon flow imping...
